The Galleries operated by the Cabarrus Arts Council has perhaps our best exhibition ever on display through July 28.?? Location, Location, Location features depictions of North Carolina?s Mountains, Piedmont and Coastal Plain and artists who have been named ?North Carolina Living Treasures.? Artists include ?Treasures? Cynthia Bringle, Sid Luck, Ben Owen, Billie Ruth Sudduth and Hiroshi Sueyoshi.? Additional artists are Kelly Adams, Luke Allsbrook, Robert Brown, Byron Baldwin, Judith Cutler, Richard Fennell, William Jameson, Robert Johnson, Marina Konovalova-Bare, Lori Neill, Peggy Root, David Simonton and Anthony Ulinski.? There are big landscape paintings, intriguing photographs, beautiful pottery and baskets.

It?s going to be a great month for beach music lovers with concerts in both Kannapolis and Concord.? The Kannapolis Concert Series will bring the Band of Oz to the Village Park Amphitheatre at 700 West C Street on Saturday, July 16, at 7 p.m.? Concord?s Union Street Live will bring the Atlantic Groove Band to the historic courthouse at 65 Union Street S on Thursday, July 21, 6-9 pm.? At the end of the month, on Friday and Saturday, July 29 and 30, at 7 p.m., Atlantic Groove will be back for a Beach Music Festival also featuring Jim Quick and Coastline, the Catalinas and the Fantastic Shakers. ?Friday night?s performances will start at 7 p.m. and Saturday?s at 5 p.m.
Seating is on the lawn for all these concerts, so bring a chair or blanket. Picnics are welcome, and concessions will also be available.? The Old Courthouse Theatre?s Living Room Reading Series will present a free reading of the comedy Barbra?s Wedding on Sunday, July 17, at? 4 p.m. at the theatre at 49 Spring Street NW, Concord.? The play is about Jerry and Molly Schiff who live next-door to Barbra Streisand?s mansion in Malibu as the media frenzy surrounding her 1998 wedding ensues.?
